The Local Academy Council (LAC) is deeply committed to the success of the school and dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the highest quality education, along with the opportunities and experiences necessary to reach their full potential. Our Councillors play a crucial role in overseeing the school's operations, serving as "critical friends" to school leaders, and holding the school accountable for its performance and continuous development.

The LAC has an important role in acting as the eyes and ears for the Trust Board providing important community oversight at a local level of the school’s performance, vision and ethos. As a local academy councillor, you will not be involved with the day-to-day running of the school. Councillors normally attend meetings in the evening, read and comment on reports and visit the schools termly to see first-hand the impact of their work.

Hear from one of our Local Academy Councillors on her motivations for joining and insights into the position below...

Mrs Louisa Graham - Local Academy Councillor

"I became a Local Academy Councillor in May 2024, I had been considering being a councillor for some time and decided to go for it after a colleague at work who is also a councillor for a different school as part of Endeavour Learning Trust encouraged me to apply. I was hesitant in becoming a councillor at first thinking how would I fit it in alongside a full time job, two young children, I was worried would I have anything to offer having no knowledge of the education system or working in a school, would I ever learn a new set of acronyms!

I really enjoy my role as a councillor and it is incredibly rewarding. It enables me to apply my skills to a different context to hopefully make a difference, giving back to my local community and the school my children attend. The time commitments are really manageable, there are opportunities to get more involved and focus in on areas of interest or were your previous experience may be best utilised. It has enabled me to understand the performance, processes, systems, vision and ethos for the school, provides me with the chance to ask questions, seek assurance and work in partnership with senior leaders. It is a really worthwhile role, a chance to shape the future for our children so they excel in their future dreams and aspirations".
